Synthetic lipids are used increasingly as key substances (excipients, critical material etc.) in drug formulations by pharmaceutical companies designing drug delivery technologies (liposome, emulsion, etc.) of manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API's).

Bio-Lab has proprietary technology for the bulk synthesis of some sphingolipids, and development of other lipid related products as well as the facilities to efficiently package and distribute research grade lipids, in small quantities to the research/ development market.
Synthetic lipids advantage:
Synthetic lipids are highly advantageous over natural lipids. Traditionally, sphingolipids, phospholipids or their associated raw materials are obtained from plant or animal sources such as milk, eggs, and tissues.
The technologies involved in this traditional means of manufacturing pure products, are expensive, afford low yield and suffer from the presence of many variable impurities in the final outcome.
Other challenges include products which are often not fully characterized (thus resulting in mixtures), leading to difficult scalability, and variable quality due to the raw materials available. In addition, contamination hazards and often inconsistent product quality have caused the US-FDA and other regulatory institutions to be more reluctant in using animal-derived lipids in the pharmaceutical industry.
In contrast, fully synthetic lipids, identical to their natural analogs, are well characterized and defined products. They are free of other lipids, non lipids, and bacterial/viral contamination. In addition their impurity profile is more under control.

Unless expressly agreed upon in a given price quote, all products are manufactured and supplied according to defined quality standards (e.g. specification limits, analytical methods/conditions, etc.). Full analytical characterization using TLC, HPLC, H1, C13 & P NMR, Mass spectrometry are available on request.
Recommended storage
Maintain R&D products at < -15 ºC, dry and away from direct light/source of heat unless indicated differently.
